Jane Cannon Swisshelm, born this day in 1815.
A memeber of the "Underground Railroad", and
an adovate for women's rights. Ms. Swisshelm
in 1848, began publishing her newspaper, "The
Pittsburgh Saturday Visitor". There , her
column gave support to these important issues.
She also wrote for, "The New york Tribute". And
on April 17th, 1850, the first woman to sit in the
Senate Press Gallery.

Lynn Fontanne, born this day in 1887. Emmy
award winning actor. A major star of the stage
for 40 years, Ms. Fontanne and her husband
Alfred Lunt are the most acclaimed acting team
in the American Theatre. Noel Coward, S.N.
Behrman, and Robert Sherwood wrote plays
for them-great comedy team. By contrast
Ms. Fontanne starred and with great acclaim
in Eugene O'Neil's 9 act play, "Strange Intertude".
