WELCOME

Women, this blog is a celebration of our collective history through the ages and throughout the world. Amazing stories that have been buried in dusty corners away from the light. Help us to shed light on all these amazing stories. Read our blog and then visit us at the Women's Mercury to learn about our ongoing projects.

BEINGWOMAN AND THE WOMEN'S MERCURY OUR MISSION

To challenge women in the local, national and international communities to find their voices, share their stories, and pass them to the next generation of women through participation in the arts.

Title IX
Yes, 34 years ago today Richard Nixon signed into law~

"No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from
participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to
discrimination under any educational program or
activity receiving federal aid."
Big difference:
1994 women recieved 38% medical degrees compared to 1972 9%
1994 women recieved 43% of the law degrees compared to 1972 7%
And in athletics, all the difference in the world.

"How important it is for us to reconize and celebrate our
heroes...and she-roes!"
~ Maya Angelou
