Rebecca Harding Davis born this day in 1831; first writer in literary realism in American literature. "Life in the Iron Mills", a novella, published in the Atlantic Monthly in 1861 is her most important work.
"Come right down with me-here in the thickest fog and mud and effluvia." This novella is based on her exiperences living among millworkers in Wheeling, VA. (later West Virginia).

But, this day would not be complete without metioning Maragret Brent- Lord Baltimore's niece and attorney!!!!(this point is left out of most history notes) who on this day was ejected from the Maryland Council in 1647 for asking the right to vote. As Miss Brent was landowner and a lawyer; the same as the them!

Sadly, today in 1983 the Equal Rights Amendment went down- defeated. (refer to June 18th question) So when will the Equal Rights Amendment pass? This is our question to answer.
