Maria Lousie Pool, born this day in
1841. An New England writer whose
stories and novels were filled with
pathos, humor,and human nature.
They were everyday life, little plot-
lotta character: "Katharine North",
"Me 'n' Maje" to name a few titles.
Ms. Pool is buried by her literary
companion, Ms. Branson.

Kristina Nilsson, born this day in 1843.
She had a career as an operatic soprano-
some say, the character Christine Daae
in Gaston Leroux's novel, "Phantom of
the Opera", was based on her life.

Rose Hum Lee, born this day in 1904.
The first woman and the first Chinese
American to be Head of the Sociology
Department- Roosevelt University in
1956. Ms. Lee was also a well respected
theorist in the field of Urban Sociology.

Jacqueline Susann, born this day in 1921.
A novelist, whose novel, "Valley of the Dolls",
has become a cultural touchstone.
