WELCOME

Women, this blog is a celebration of our collective history through the ages and throughout the world. Amazing stories that have been buried in dusty corners away from the light. Help us to shed light on all these amazing stories. Read our blog and then visit us at the Women's Mercury to learn about our ongoing projects.

BEINGWOMAN AND THE WOMEN'S MERCURY OUR MISSION

To challenge women in the local, national and international communities to find their voices, share their stories, and pass them to the next generation of women through participation in the arts.

"We work on ourselves in order to
help others, but also we help others
in order to work on ourselves."
~Pema Chodron

Betsy Ross, born this day in 1752.
A woman of "written history dispute",
BUT of "oral history", she had sewn
the flag that was flown during the
public reading of the "Declaration
of Independence" at Independence
Hall, July 8th 1776. This oral history
passed down through her family and
common knowledge among Americans.
Who knows? Interesting note; Ms. Ross
was widowed three times AND her first
husband was John Ross. Who knows
who her other husband were.....

Eve Queler, born this day in 1936. Founder
of the Opera Orchestra of New York in 1969.

Jacqueline Means, was the first woman
formally ordained an Episcopal preist this
day in 1977.
