Two Women of Peace

Mairead Corrigan was born this day in 1944. Born and raised in Belfast Ireland in the Catholic faith. Ms. Corrigan is the youngest person to receive, "The Nobel Peace Prize" in 1977 at age 32.
The violence in Northern Ireland touched Mairead life when three of her sister Ann's children were it by a get away car and killed. Her sister Ann committed suicide later. Betty Williams was a witness to the tragic event.
They bonded over this event and formed, "Women for Peace". which later was named, "Community for Peace People." By the end of the month these brave women lead 35,000 people to take to the streets of Belfast protesting the violence between the Republicans and Loyalists.
"Mairead Corrigan and Betty Williams,Making Peace in Northern Ireland"a book which follows their powerful lives.
Corrigan and Williams are still extremely active in promoting Peace throughout the world. Read more and be proud of these fine women. And pray for Peace- today more than ever women and children are the victims of war, violence. 75% of the victims of war are women and children.
