Mary Quinn Sullivan was born this day in 1877. Mary was a visionay as a collector of Modren Art. She is best known as one of the founding trustee's of The Museum of Modren Art.

In May of 1869, the National Woman Suffrage Association was formed in New York City. Lead by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. They joined together to fight to have the wording to include "woman" in the 15th Amendment and they did not support the 15th without "woman" in the wording.
So...on this day in 1869, Lucy Stone lead the split from NWSA- forming the American Woman Suffrage Association(AWSA). They felt that woman would have a better outcome if they sought the right to vote state by state and they supported the 15th Amendment.
In 1890,they merged- realizing that together they could lead the Suffrage Movement to victory. Their name, the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA).
