WELCOME

Women, this blog is a celebration of our collective history through the ages and throughout the world. Amazing stories that have been buried in dusty corners away from the light. Help us to shed light on all these amazing stories. Read our blog and then visit us at the Women's Mercury to learn about our ongoing projects.

BEINGWOMAN AND THE WOMEN'S MERCURY OUR MISSION

To challenge women in the local, national and international communities to find their voices, share their stories, and pass them to the next generation of women through participation in the arts.

June 19th

Born this day in 1940, Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney, drag racer and the first woman to be a Top Fuel champ. Known as the First Lady of Drag Racing, Muldowney broken through the gender wall, of a all male sport. She is still racing today!

On this day in 1893, Lizzie Bordon was acquitted of murdering her parents with an ax.
But, the little children's rhythm:
"Lizzie Borden took an ax gave her mother 40 whacks, when she saw what she had done gave her father 41!"

Ahhh, but oral history condemns her forever.

On this day in 1963,Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space returns to Earth.
